Here is one of the ways that I used to perform the effect that you are describing... this method is the method that I used for restraunts:

Hold the deck in left hand dealers...cut half the deck on to the table slightly to the right. Remove a single card and place it about a foot to the left of the tabled half...then replace the remainder of the deck ontop of the tabled half. So now you should have a deck on the right and a prediction a foot away on the left... don't skip over this part!!! You want this IMAGE in their head. point to the prediction and tell them that you are going to use this later. Now pick up the deck with your right hand as your left hand slides the prediction to the area where the deck was ( so now the prediction should be to the right.) this is done casually.

Have the spec. select and sign a card.... as they are signing...secretly turn the top card over. take their card back and place it face up ontop of the deck... DO NOT let them see the face up card that you turned over. SO NOW...you should have a double ontop of the deck. Explain that it doesn't matter what the card is becuase it now has their name on it. Turn the double "Their card" over and have them hold out their hand like a little pincher. Now place "their card" (the single indifferent card) into their finger tips...and tell them that they are going to place the card in the deck.(Their signed card should still be on top of the deck) As you say this, Shuffle their signed card to the bottom of the deck.

Now retain a thumb break with your right hand on the bottom card(their card)... your hand should be palm down.... and swing cut half the deck into your left hand dealers grip.

NOW THE SWITCH!!!!

As you reach foward with your left hands pack LOOK THEM IN THE EYE and tell them to replace thier card that they have been holding. AS YOU DO THIS...your right hand lowers to the table and drops off the card in thumb break to the LEFT of the tabled prediction card ...then you IMMEDIATLY place the pack down ON TOP of the "FIRST PREDICTION" on the right, that you removed at the begining.

This is ALL DONE as the spectator is placing the card in their hand onto the pack in YOUR LEFT HAND.... the misdirection is much like the card to mouth misdirection.

Your right hand now comes up to the left hand pack and starts to cut small packets onto the tabled deck... as you say you are going to lose their card into the deck....the trick is complete...they believe their card is in the deck....but it ACCTUALLY has been switched to be the tabled prediction. show the prediction card...and your trick is over.
